Site downtime…

Posted by Bob at 00:13 on July 29, 2006

Update: More downtime today (31st July), seems to be all sorted out again though…

As you may have noticed, rawkstar availability has been sporadic of late, but it’s back up again!! My webhost have had a few power problems and other webhost type problems lately.

Hopefully the site will stay up and be accessable again (without excessive page loading times… e.g., waiting a minute for each page to load) as opposed to what it’s been like the past week!

Albums of the year?

Posted by Andreas at 00:39 on May 3, 2006

I’d just like to highlight some of the releases I am mostly looking forward to in the coming weeks/months, in the hopes that you, dear reader, will tell me which you are excited about and so we can all relish in the exchange of information. Anyway, here it goes!

– Asobi Seksu: Citrus. New York band that sounds like a swirling dream of wonderfulness. Album out a the end of this month, I do believe.
– This et Al: Sabbatical. We’re quite fond of this lot over at rawkstar hq, and their next single and upcoming album should be immense.
– Bloc Party: whatever it is called. Are you excited? I am. Hopefully it’ll be less punk-funk, and blog posts assure me this is the case.
– Mean+Flower: Untitled. The return of Europe’s best unsigned poprock band?

Now, your turn!

All you’ll ever be is a dancer…

Is a song by This Et Al. Furthermore, I absolutely love it. From the jarring chords to the sensitive chorus bit, it’s all good. Ticking in at under 2 minutes “all you’ll ever be…” is terribly short, but my, those 96 seconds are purest gold.

Patrick Wolf album in 2006

Posted by Andreas at 17:58 on January 15, 2006

My current love, as far as music is concerned, Patrick Wolf is releasing his third album this year. More details on the musical aspect of the album in the full-length interview i did with the lovely Mr. Wolf elsewhere on rawkstar.net.

Some more news have later emerged though. The album will be named “The Magic Position” (the mind boggles…) and will be released on Loog/Polydor. Which means, ladies and gentlemen, that the wolf is going big time.

Along with the prospects of a new Biffy Clyro and maybe an Arcade Fire album in 2006, I am very very excited.

Also worth a look are Norwegian band Syracus’ first EP, “Sleeping Thermostat”. www.syracus.no

Bosh!

rawkstar.net joins the blogging bandwagon!

Posted by Bob at 19:17 on January 14, 2006

Yes, I’ve gone and done it now… I set up a rawkstar.net blog for the team to pass on their thoughts of the moment on the world of music e.t.c. and me to ramble about webby things.

I know it doesn’t look very nice at the moment, but I will redesign the site when i get around to it – It’ll look more like rawkstar.

Fantastic.
